What is Manipulative Behaviour ?

soberThere are two questions really, what is manipulative behaviour and why is it so damaging?

Manipulation is often thought of as being something that most people do in varying degrees to get their own way, and quite often more of a game rather than something that actually harms people.

Some people would argue that manipulation of other people is a legitimate way to further their careers and that self-interest is a valid reason or excuse for pursuing it.

Are there Alcoholics Anonymous meetings for the whole family?

soberAlcoholics Anonymous has a very clear sense that it’s purpose is to help people who have a drink problem. However, the experience of this happening very quickly showed family members that they also had been affected by someone else’s drinking and these help as well.

Out of this realisation, was born another 12 step fellowship, Al-Anon, which uses the 12-step program and the underlying experience of Alcoholics Anonymous as a way of helping family members deal with and cope with the effects of alcoholism within the family.

soberAlcoholics Anonymous (AA) has always realised the importance of people being able to contact them quickly, and gain quick and reliable information about the time and place of meetings, as well as more general information.

Having a so-called hotline has always been an important element of AA’s ability to respond to people’s needs whenever possible.
