What are the AA promises?

soberThe AA promises are a set of statements that come towards the end of chapter six in the book Alcoholics Anonymous, after the narrative detailing the process involved in step nine of the recovery program.

These statements talk of a new freedom and a new happiness, making peace with the past, being free of fears around economic insecurity and having a real sense of purpose in life. The full wording can be found here.

What is the 4th edition of the big book of Alcoholics Anonymous?

soberThe book Alcoholics Anonymous, commonly referred to as the big book of AA, was first published in 1939. It established the organisation of AA by the same name, and as AA grew in size, the book became the mainstay of the organisation.

Having a so-called hotline has always been an important element of AA’s ability to respond to people’s needs whenever possible.
